Description

What is postcolonial feminism? What questions, starting points and assumptions characterise postcolonial feminist perspectives? Where does postcolonial feminism stand in contemporary intellectual and political discourse?

This anthology brings together texts rooted in postcolonial feminism. Spanning two volumes and comprising a total of four thematic sections, it presents theories, approaches and arguments that have all contributed to making postcolonial feminism one of the key critical traditions of our time. Several of the texts are now classics that are frequently cited and used, whilst others are less well known. The majority of the contributions have not previously been published in Swedish.

The anthology’s first theme examines the emergence and context of postcolonial feminism through key concepts such as history, nation, identity and belonging. The aim is to offer the reader various entry points to the subject and to provide tools for understanding some of its most significant strands. The second theme addresses issues of knowledge production and discursive space. The texts in this section revolve around theoretical problems and challenges relating to epistemology, methodology, experience and interpretative priority.

The editor of the anthology is Paulina de los Reyes, who has also written a longer introduction to the book as well as an introductory text for each individual thematic section.

Paulina de los Reyes is a professor of economic history at Stockholm University.
