Description
What is postcolonial feminism? What questions, starting points and assumptions characterise postcolonial feminist perspectives? Where does postcolonial feminism stand in contemporary intellectual and political discourse?
This anthology brings together texts rooted in postcolonial feminism. Spanning two volumes and comprising a total of four thematic sections, it presents theories, approaches and arguments that have all contributed to making postcolonial feminism one of the key critical traditions of our time. Several of the texts are now classics that are frequently cited and used, whilst others are less well known. The majority of the contributions have not previously been published in Swedish.
The second volume of the anthology draws on a number of texts that focus on the power relations, exploitation and migration of global capitalism. Topics covered in this section include domination, diaspora, new identities and subordination based on racism and sexism. The book concludes with a theme focusing on theoretical and practical strategies and counter-strategies. The aim here is to develop analyses that can both broaden the field of knowledge and articulate political openings and alternatives.
The editor of the anthology is Paulina de los Reyes, who has also written a longer introduction to the book as well as an introductory text to each individual thematic section. Paulina de los Reyes is a professor of economic history at Stockholm University.
