Since its inception in 2001, the activist network Planka.nu has been Sweden’s most inventive critic of infrastructure policy and an advocate for publicly funded public transport. The book *Så kom vi över spärrarna* (How We Got Past the Turnstiles), published in 2018, recounts Planka’s history.

"It is said that the winner writes history, but one can also turn that around and say that a winning concept writes history. Regardless of how a political campaign ends – whether it achieves its goals, fails or changes form – lessons can be learnt from it. Other activists can be inspired and gain ideas on how they themselves wish to change society.

We want to share our story by talking about the things we’ve done, the campaigns we’ve run through the organisation, and the ideas we’ve tested with varying results. We hope that you, the reader, will benefit from our experiences; try doing the same, reshape our ideas, remix them, or do the exact opposite.”
