Prague Anarchist Bookfair crew will do a talk on the Syrian perspective on the war in Ukraine.
The talk will be presenting ideas and thoughts from compilation of five essays on the Syrian perspective on the war in Ukraine, which has been translated for Prague Anarchist Bookfair. In the spring of 2011, an uprising and subsequent revolution began in Syria that is considered by some to be the largest popular uprising since the Spanish Revolution of 1936. Had it not been for tens of thousands of Shia militiamen from Iran and, most importantly, the massive support of Putin’s Russia, Assad would not have stood a chance against the popular uprising. Events in Ukraine are déjà vu for many Syrians. The texts from syrian writers and revolutionaries look at the ongoing war in Ukraine but also at the failure of the world community and the Western left towards Syrian society and democracy in general.
The talk will be in English
