Description
In *Living Feministically*, Sara Ahmed shows how feminist theory emerges from everyday experiences of being a feminist at home and at work. Ahmed draws particularly on the research of racialised feminists and offers a poetic and personal reflection on how feminists are made into outsiders in the worlds they critique – but also how feminists learn about these worlds through their attempts to change them. Ahmed develops her argument about ‘the feminist joy-killer’ and shows how feminists have found creative solutions – including by creating their own support systems – to survive devastating encounters with the walls of racism and sexism. The book concludes with the joy-killer’s survival kit and manifesto, which provide practical tools for a feminist life and clearly highlight the connection between the innovative creation of feminist theory and living a feminist life. Sara Ahmed is a writer, researcher and activist. Her books include Willful Subjects and The Promise of Happiness. The anthology The Hegemony of Whiteness has previously been published in Swedish.
