Beskrivning
STACKEN is an apartment building in Bergsjön, a satellite-city of Gothenburg, Sweden. It means anthill, the mound of earth formed by a colony of ants in building their nest. In 1979 Stacken became their first KOLLEKTIVHUS (cohouse) of the self-work model in Sweden. Swedish cohouses of this model are collective houses with standard apartments complemented by shared facilities managed by the residents. The common kitchen is often the core of the cohouse. A pair of workouts in any of the different working teams every 3 or 4 weeks are quite common. Stacken is owned by a cooperative tenant association, formed by its residents. The managing and shaping of these houses is therefore the collective responsibility of their inhabitants, based upon common work and decisions.
